Originally, Togzhan is from Kentau, South Kazakhstan. She moved from there at 18 years old to study Economics at Nazarbayev University. Upon graduating with honors she moved to New York City where she studied Data Science at Columbia University. She started her career in New York City at a small startup, where she had a chance to create projects for big companies like Bloomberg and even participate in Mayor Bloomberg's presidential run. Currently, she is a Data Scientist in a private equity sector, where she helps increase value of the company's portfolio.

I would like to talk about how tech and data changed the way things are done in politics and communities, how big tech and everyone's obsession with social media influence important decisions people make like voting in elections. This is important discussion as many people don't understand how much their personal devices "know" about them and how Apple, Facebook and all these other companies make money out of it. As a result of this discussion I want people to be more aware about they put out there and how should they be using these platforms.
I used to be a Deep Learning Scientist in a medical startup where I worked on medical data and images. On a side note, I work as a mentor at Yandex Practicum where I help students with learning about Data Science.
