Sub-Radio makes indie pop that grooves, stabs, winks, punches, inspires. Founded by six childhood friends, they built a following in their hometown of Washington, D.C. on the strength of ecstatic live shows and a stream of releases. Following a national tour in 2019, their 2020 EP, produced by Andrew Maury (Shawn Mendes, Lizzo, COIN) and Mike Kamerman (Smallpools), takes the band in a bigger and brighter direction than ever.
Sub-Radio is Adam Bradley (vocals), Matt Prodanovich (guitar, vocals), Michael Pereira (drums), John Fengya (keys, guitar, vocals), Barry Siford (bass), and Kyle Cochran (guitar, keys).
Matthew Prodanovich, 27, started his music career by picking up a classical guitar when he was 12. He quickly found writing songs to be something he was truly passionate about. Matthew formed a band with his childhood friends who were also learning classical guitar at the same time as him. The band would eventually become Sub-Radio. During college Matthew honed his songwriting skills with an Individualized Study degree with a concentration in Music Industry from James Madison University. He also studied classical guitar for three years while attending the university. The diversity of music that he was exposed to while at school allowed him to expand his songwriting abilities. During Matthew's time at college, Sub-Radio quickly turned into a local band playing mostly local venues to a touring act that has now performed hundreds of shows across the country. Matthew now lives outside of Washington, D.C. with his girlfriend and continues to write and perform with Sub-Radio.
Adam Bradley, 27, has been writing songs since the 7th grade, where he began his musical education on the classical guitar. Since then he has been the frontman of a six-piece pop band composed of childhood friends, currently performing as Sub-Radio. His strong vocals have been compared to famous pop tenors like Adam Levine and Freddie Mercury. Bradley attended American University in Washington, DC, and formerly worked as a PR professional on progressive issues. He lives in Silver Spring, MD, with his partner and two cats.
Michael Pereira, 26, plays the drums for the indie pop band Sub-Radio. He is a curious soul, with a passion for learning and exploring. A self-taught musician, he joined the band when he was 16, where he found his love for performing alongside his best friends. He is known for his high energy, gregarious presence, and radiant joy onstage. His enthusiasm and diverse upbringing from a mixed race family and global travel make him a social magnet, while a college education in physics and professional experience in the engineering sector fuel his craving for understanding. He is a man of high ideals, immense gratitude, and believes a smile is all it takes to make somebody’s day.
Kyle Cochran, 25, is the newest addition to Sub-Radio. His love for music can be traced back to hitting cookware with wooden spoons, but the connection truly took hold when he got his first guitar at the age of 12. During these formative years, he would form and join a variety of bands, and before graduating high school, Kyle was teaching guitar lessons to a small collection of students. Kyle would go on to pursue a Bachelor’s of Music at James Madison University. It was at JMU that Kyle met the original lineup of Sub-Radio, though he would not join the band for a few years. He graduated in 2016 with a concentration in Music Industry, which he put to use finding work in live event production, sound reinforcement, and studio recording before joining Sub-Radio in early 2019. He currently lives in Leesburg, VA.
John Fengya, 26, is the keyboardist, backing guitarist, and backing vocalist for Sub-Radio. He began his musical career at age 8 learning the piano. At age 11 he spent a year learning the alto saxophone in his middle school band. Soon after, at age 12, he enrolled in his school's guitar program where he and Sub- Radio guitarist Matthew Prodanovich first crossed musical paths. The two often sought each other out to perform and compose together; in the years following, this partnership would eventually blossom to include fellow classmates and musicians, forming the basis of Sub-Radio as it is known today. In 2015, Fengya earned a B.S. from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He has since been performing and touring with Sub-Radio and has spent time supplementing his musical career by working as an IT professional.
