Balkhash in a Dream — is a project that combines Anuar’s poetry and Rustem’s music in a partnership way. The task of the project is to immerse the listeners in the specific mood and state, before reading poetry to them. Both music and video are used for this. This does not mean that poetry does not work without strengthening it, but it means that it can become more accessible to a wider audience, who otherwise might never have come across these texts. Anuar Duisenbinov is a poet and translator from Kazakhstan. He was born in 1985 in Andreevka (now Kabanbay), grown up in Taldykorgan and graduated from the economic department of the Lev Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana as well as from the Open Literary School in Almaty. He has participated in the poetry festivals in Kazakhstan and Latvia, organized a series of mixed musical and literary events in Astana and has his poetry (written in Russian) published through important Russian web magazines TextOnly and Polutona. He has also translated into Kazakh language some poems of Latvian, Polish, Croatian authors. Rustem Myrzakhmetov is a musician and music producer from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Resident of Object (electronic music and culture project in Almaty) as a DJ. Works in his music studio, writes music for advertisement and movies, cooperates with QAZAQ INDIE independent musicians community.
Balkhash in Dream performance for the first time is accompanied by a video series. Especially for this performance, the artist Saule Dusenbina created a number of video works, not presented anywhere else.
Saule Dusenbina, artist. Born in 1971 in the city of Karaganda. In 1997, she graduated from the Zhurgenev Kazakhstan State Art Academy in Almaty (the department of easel painting). Since 1997, he has participated in the International Festival of Young Artists "Zhiger" in Almaty. In 2002 participated in the International Festival "Shabyt" in Astana. (Laureate 2nd prize). From 2002 to 2018 held 8 solo exhibitions. As an artist, he actively participates in regional and international exhibitions and projects. Engaged in monumental painting in public and private spaces. From 2010 to 2013 she taught at the Art Academy. Zhurgenev. Works are in the State Museum of Arts named after Kasteev (Almaty), in the Museum of Arts named after Nevzorov (Semipalatinsk), AUCA (Bishkek) and in private collections of Kazakhstan, England, Italy, Belgium. Lives and works in Almaty.
Bagytzhan Beksultan acting under the nickname Jeltoksan was born in Atyrau on April 20, 1996. Since his childhood, he began to get involved in music. At the age of 13 he tried himself in beat-making, and from the same age he had growing interest in writing poetry. The range of his musical interests is varied from electronics and hip-hop to folk music, and the musician writes texts mainly in the Kazakh language. He began to release songs since 2014. In June 2018, Beksultan released the instrumental album “BUTTERFLY”. This year he plans to release a full-fledged album as an author-performer. Since December 2018 he has been subscribed to the label “Blood with milk”.
Darkhan Dzhunusbekov, better known under the creative nickname Darkhan Juzz, was born in Almaty in 1990. He began his journey into the world of music at an early age, having familiarized himself with the activities of Bob Marley and Viktor Tsoy. A simple interest in their magical music very soon turned into a desire to compose and perform his own music - from the age of 14 he has been writing author's songs. In his music Darkhan does not limit himself to certain genres and he is able to endow with a unique author's style both indie-rock compositions and hip-hop tracks. He writes texts mainly in the Kazakh language. In spring of 2019, together with the music label ÕZEÑ, Darkhan released a collection of the best songs published from 2014 to 2018 - "TBRN". Also, at the end of this year a full-fledged studio album is expected to be released.
